Everyone who has asthma might not have ALL the symptoms listed below. But ALL asthmatics have at least a few of these symptoms.

• Episodes of wheezing

• Difficulty in breathing

• Tightness in chest

• Frequent cough

• Frequent occurrence of allergy

• Bronchial hyper-responsiveness to nonspecific stimuli such as cold air or histamine
  
  In severe cases, an asthma attack leaves the patient gasping for air.
